I am really not a fan of beef. To me it has a weird aftertaste, and the fact that it is so fatty kind of turns me off. Of course, I still love burgers, and luckily for me you can make burgers with so many other options!
Why is it that so many people can’t think beyond beef when it comes to burgers? You can create flavorful and juicy patties with ground turkey – and they’re better for you, too! In my personal opinion I think that turkey absorbs flavors much better, so the natural sweetness of the turkey meat is complimented by the seasoning you put on it rather than being completely overwhelmed by the taste of beef.
These turkey burgers are simply seasoned with tasty spices and cooked on the stove for a winning lunch or dinner. Beef, be gone!
Makes 4 burgers
16 oz. ground turkey, divided into four 4-oz patties (94% lean, not fat-free turkey)
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. pink salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
- In a small bowl, combine spices to make a seasoning mixture.
- Heat medium size skillet to medium heat. Place two patties on skillet and sprinkle with seasoning mixture. Cook for 5 minutes, flip and cook for another 5 minutes. Cook until internal temperature is 165 degrees.
- Repeat for last two patties.
- Serve warm over a salad or on a burger bun.
